Like a pig

Today I sweated like a pig.  And I know you REALLY wanted to know that!

I had volleyball practice today, and for whatever reason, I was really tired afterward. We only did a few (horrible) suicides, and I didn't even get to play in the game (well, not a REAL game - it's too hard to explain) much at all. I was about to fall asleep in band...well, not quite, but I was really tired. Plus I was kinda bored because the stuff we were learning was really easy.....

Tonight my dad and I went out and practiced some. This basically involved me flopping and falling and hitting the volleyball onto our neighbor's roof. Good times. My feet have not been this dirty in awhile. Neither have my legs. Even with all the dirt, it was fun. I went for the vb a lot more because we played in the grass (obviously), not on a court, so it was much....softer. Duh. You knew that.

Right now I'm listening to tobyMac's new album....on YouTube. =) Not sure whether or not I will buy it.
The other day I was buying a song on iTunes, and I bought the wrong one and started screaming. I'm sorta weird. I kept saying (and am still saying), "I can't believe I just wasted ONE DOLLAR AND TWENTY-NINE CENTS on a song I don't like!" Yeah...I'm freaking out about a dollar and twenty-nine cents. (I say that the songs that cost more than ninety-nine cents are expensive....yeah, I know. Very weird.) Hey, I could have bought a different song with that money, ok? I could have bought one of the new tobyMac songs! Every penny counts, right? Right. Considering that there are about a gazillion songs that I want (ok, not nearly that much =), that was like pouring money down the drain. Except it's maybe more like dumping money into cyberspace.....just never mind.

Goodnight. I better go to bed (OR NOT!) before I start making even less sense. Is that possible?! DO NOT ANSWER THAT.

I Feel Honored

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to say that yesterday I certainly felt honored - I received a blogging award AND an email from a sweet girl named Alyssa.

First, the blogging award. Emma-lee from In Real Life awarded me the Liebster Award...according to Autumn, that is a German word that basically means "sweetheart". Thanks so much, Emma-lee!

I have to write 11 Things about me....

I listen to music a lot - and usually only on shuffle.
I like rain.
I squeal and talk to myself when reading books that have romantic things in them.
I could have cried in UP and really hate that movie. Sorry.
I am impatient.
I used to think that I could fly - when I was like five.
I get sunburned easily.
I love getting emails from followers (ok, who doesn't?!)
Would you laugh if you said I want to learn guitar?
I am a perfectionist.
I haven't practiced piano today...or flute....oops. (update: i practiced piano!)

I have to answer some questions...here they are!

1. // What's your favourite colour? Purple!
2. // If you could go anywhere right now, where would it be? Hmm....I have no idea!
3. // What time is it right now? 8:05 pm
4. // How tall are you? Not sure exactly.
5. // Do you prefer a thrift store or a retail store? Retail store (usually).
6. // What is your favourite movie? National Treasure, Star Wars, Soul Surfer...I can't pick one. =)
7. // Board games or card games? Like, neither?! I don't know; I like spoons, I guess (I've only played it once, though).
8. // What's your favourite scripture verse? Well, I have lots of favorites. Um....here are a few: Matthew 25:21, John 16:33, Ecclesiastes 3:11, Psalm 138:8....I can't pick.
9. // Who is your favourite artist/band? I LOVE Britt Nicole, and really like Jonny Diaz, Matthew West, and Tobymac.
10. // Coffee or tea? Coffee probably - unless it's iced tea.
11. // How old were you when you went on your first roller coaster ride? I was nine. I acted like I was going to die on it - and it was only Thunder Mountain at Disney. Last time I rode a roller coaster (years later) was back in February at Legoland...those were funny. We rode them so many times we basically got bored of them.

Here's some people I tagged:
(I would tag Emma-lee, but she said no tag-backs)

Kryn
Alyssa
Brooke
Cindi

Ok, I think I'm supposed to make up 11 questions for ya'll to answer.

1. Do you play an instrument?
2. Do you play a sport?
3. Have you ever been ice skating?
4. Can you blow bubbles with bubble gum?
5. What's your favorite Bible verse?
6. Do you sing?
7. Hot ice cream or cold apple pie?
8. Dogs or cats?
9. Converse or flip flops?
10. Dresses or skirts?
11. Computer or cell phone?

Now on to the email. Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much, Alyssa, for that wondeful, sweet email! It means so much to me. (And thanks for the blog button help). I love hearing from my followers. Thanks again.

Gotta go!

XOXOXOXOXO,
 ~emily~

Bright Socks

Hello Everyone!

I hope your weekend is going WONDERFULLY! Tomorrow I have volleyball practice....OH! We got the bright orange socks that our team chose (it was not my first choice). They're....bright. And we have to wear them to our games. I am going to try to push them down as far as possible so the my leg won't be totally enveloped in neon. At least they're crew socks and not knee socks....

Read this post on this blog and pray for this girl's family.

Pig in a Painting

Today was the first day of my classes. Can't really say the first day of school since we do school on and off during the summer, so this really isn't the first day of school, but it's sorta like that. It felt like fall today. (Not the weather.)

My favorite class was watercolor. The teacher is a little unusual. He lives on a pirate ship. He has a parrot named Morgan that he brings to class. His mustache is very pointy on the ends and sticks out from his face. But his class is fun. I some paintings from years past and they looked very hard to paint. Now, obviously this is only the first day, but the painting was fairly easy. I mean, it's not super duper faboo, but it wasn't exactly rocket science. This is mine....

My family noticed something weird in the clouds.

Do you see the pig?! My friend loves pigs. I didn't mean to put that in, but it's kinda cool. =)

Now I am listening to Justin Bieber. I have no clue why I'm doing such a thing. I only listen to the chipmunk versions of his songs because they are hilarious. I was howling the first time I heard one. I also listened to I can see clearly now the rain is gone. Don't know if that's the actual title, but you get it. The first time I heard this was on a children's allergy medicine commercial. Kryn and I thought it was hilarious and it never occurred to us that it was a real song. Until the other day when one of my parents was singing it in the car. I was somewhat shocked. We made sure to sing it to another friend in the car - it's kinda a tradition, singing to her in the car and all. I'm sure she loves it. Or not. AND THEN! In watercolor class, my teacher (aka "The Pirate Teacher") had the radio on an oldies station. I heard it and several other songs Kryn and I laugh at (Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog - just because we've met a boy named Jeremiah and his friend sang that song once, Build Me Up Buttercup, and some others). The four other people in class were probably wondering why I was trying not to laugh.

Now Andy's listening to Chipmunk Christmas music...hmm. A little early, I'd say. I can't understand a word they're saying.

How was everyone's first day of school? Do you go to school or are you homeschooled? Do you take any classes?

Our Camping Trip

Hello, lovely blog readers!

I had a good camping trip. The first night I thought I broke my toe, but thankfully, I hadn't. I had dropped a table on it and it hurt A LOT. It was my big toe, though, We went to an aquarium. I attempted to take pictures, and most of them did not turn out. I am saving for a DSLR camera. I was practically drooling over some of the cameras I saw at the aquarium. We saw (little) sharks in the bay behind our campsite. One swam right beside my boat. It was a bonnethead shark and was probably around two feet big. (Bonnetheads are sort of like hammerheads.) And surprisingly, I didn't scream. I just started gasping, "SHARK!" I saw the fin coming towards the boat ("the boat" is a blow-up raft-like boat) and thought it looked like a fish (yes, I do realize that sharks are fish). It looked redish-brown to me. Dad said to me later, "How long have you known you're colorblind?" I have no idea why I thought it looked brown. I know, I'm kinda weird. It also stormed one day (actually two days, but we were at the aquarium the day of the first storm). Water basically came into the camper all along the sides, so it was very wet inside (DUH! It was OBVIOUSLY wet! I am really stating the obvious). We played at the beach a lot; I played some volleyball with my family (and Wilson - yes, we named our volleyball) while we were there. Don't judge. =)

I still need some questions for the FAQ page! I also really want to do a vlog...like I'd ever post one! I should try doing one just to prove to myself that I am way too awkward to do one. =) So IF I posted one, what do you want it to be on? Oh, and IF means that I'm not posting one. But whatever, comment and tell me anyway. Did that make any sense? Does ANY of this make sense?! Ok, don't answer that.

EXCUSE THE DESIGN! I am in the middle of redoing it and deciding if I should rename the blog (I know, I just started it). What do you all think I should do?

LAST EPISODE OF WNTW TONIGHT!!!! BOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO! Last of the season, anyway. And tomorrow I start some classes at a homeschool group we are part of (I do volleyball with them). Last year was...ok. I will post about tomorrow, soon. (That is, if there is anything interesting to tell about tomorrow.)

XOXO

Questions - Answered with Songs

I've seen on some blogs where they write down questions then put different songs as answers. They shuffle it so it's random. I decided to do that - and these first two questions are two of the three questions I got for the FAQ page (please send more!).

What was your favorite day of your life? Jonny Diaz "More Beautiful You"
Ok...that was random.
What do you wanna be when you grow up? Britt Nicole "Sunshine Girl"
But I can be that NOW.

And here are ones other than questions for my FAQ page...(I got most of these from this blog - I also got the idea to do this from her. Check her post I got the idea from HERE.)
What would best describe your personality? Francesca Battistelli and Dave Barnes "Emily (It's Love)"
Nope, not really.

What do you think of your friends? Britt Nicole "Welcome to the Show"
Not really...

What is your life story? Brittany Hargest "Miracle"
FINALLY A SONG THAT WORKS! This matches this question perfectly!

What is your hobby/interest? Francesca Battistelli "Someday Soon"
Well, that is random.

What makes you laugh? Britt Nicole "Who You Say You Are"
This doesn't really make me laugh.

What makes you sad? Francesca Battistelli "Hundred More Years"
This doesn't make me sad....

What do you friends think of you? Britt Nicole "Seeing For The First Time"
This song doesn't make sense with this question (most of these songs don't make sense with the questions =).

How would you describe yourself? Michael BublƩ "Hollywood"
Well...this is not how I would describe myself.
Maybe I'll try to do this again later - and maybe, hopefully, I'll get better answers! =)

Have an AWESOME DAY!

Don't Go, Summer

Most people are saying.....

But not us Florida people. We've got summer for a couple more months.

Sure, school starts and whatever, but the WEATHER doesn't leave for a long time.

So all you people in other places...enjoy a lovely fall. Ours will probably be a warm one...which there are pluses to that, since we can go the beach for a while and stuff....

PiƱa Colada Recipe

(YEAH, I KNOW! - I'm not using the same font as I have in the last couple of posts. BE GLAD. Now I realize I don't really love this font...better stick to the other one. Just kidding. Although I don't really like this font....)

PiƱa Colada Smoothie

Ingredients:

2 bananas - frozen

1 cup pineapple – frozen or fresh

1 cup milk (we used almond milk, but any kind will work)

1/8 teaspoon coconut extract/flavoring

2 tablespoons sugar

Directions

Blend all ingredients in blender. Add ice if necessary or use more or less frozen fruit to get the
consistency you want.

This is SOOO good! My mom came up with it the other day. It's very sweet, so if you like sweet things, this is totally for you!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

You Are Beautiful

{Excuse the ugly font on the photo above!}

It can be hard sometimes not to look in the mirror and think that you look bad. "I'm too fat, I'm too skinny, my legs are too short, my arms are too long, my nose is too big, my mouth is too small, my skin isn't perfect," etc., etc., etc. The list can go on forever, and it's different for each person.

The truth is, you're not ugly. You're "fearfully and wonderfully made" (see Psalm 139:14 - above photo). Beauty isn't about what's on the outside. It's about what's on the inside. And when you say that you're ugly, that's like saying to God, "Look at this piece of junk You made! You messed up big time."

The Bible says in 1 Samuel 16:7, "The Lord told Samuel, "Don't look at his appearance or how tall he is....Humans look at outward appearances, but the Lord looks into the heart." It doesn't matter what you look like outside. What matters is what you look like on the inside.

Remember that Jesus loves you - no matter how you look, feel, or act. He made you for a reason. And he made you the way you are for a reason. He didn't make a mistake in making you. He never has and He never will....so don't think He did. The Lord has a purpose for you (see Psalm 138:8). You are special to Him, and He loves you oh-so-much.

One last thing: I realized the other day that the girls and women that I think are the cutest are ones that have hearts for the Lord. Sure, they're pretty on the outside, but most of all they are happy and confident. They don't look down on others. They truly care about others and their feelings. And they love Jesus. They are people I want to imitate, people I want to be like.

You can still want to look nice. Just don't obsess on it. Remember....

(just the way you are!) Let's all remember this (because I need to, too).

Have a great day, lovelies!

OOPS!!!!!! I did it AGAIN! I used the same font. I PROMISE I won't do that again. Ugh. I like the font, but not THAT much! =)

Happy Sunday // August 12

Weird and awesome  moments from the weekend:

Singing in "B language" while vacuuming ("B language" is just where you change the first letting in every word to a "b"...Kryn and I used to think it was totally awesome to talk like this - like when we were eight)

*

Trying to listen to my iPod while pressure washing the driveway - that did NOT work at all

*

I saw AZERBAIJAN wrestling on the Olympics! Now, I don't like wrestling. But I had no idea that Azerbaijan participated in the Olympics!

*

Freezing in church and Walmart
(I knew you really wanted to hear about my freezing in Walmart and church.)

Enjoying a lovely sunset AND rainbow last night

*

Found out Tobymac has a new album (it's supposed to be released on iTunes on August 28)

We heard on the radio that Billy Graham is in the hospital or something (pray for him), and my brother Andy goes, "Isn't he the guy that sells OxiClean?" Que the howling coming from me and my mother. My dad completely missed what Andy said.

Well, this next weekend we will be camping. I think I am going to do some scheduled posts for when I'm gone....

Happy Sunday!

PS: Oops, I used the same font on my pictures two posts in a row! Sorry!

And you probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't have pointed it out.

No Novelty Socks!

Yes...I tried it. It was not exactly wonderful. It was...strong. Like WAY too strong.

Well, I know this is short, but I just needed to tell you that right now my mother is looking at strange socks for my volleyball team. We've found some ones with things like flying pigs, cupcakes, ice cream, and a gator skin design (WEIRD!) on them. And now she's looking at ones with monkeys on them. I am only slightly scared. Oh, now it's a unicorn. OH MY, I AM TOTALLY TERRIFIED AT THE THOUGHT OF HAVING TO WEAR THESE! Our volleyball team is supposed to vote on what we want...PLEASE NO UNICORNS! AND I AM NOT AN ALLIGATOR! THEREFORE I SHOULD NOT BE WEARING GATOR SKIN!!!!

Hopefully my team has great tastes. Whatever happened to our plain neon socks? Hopefully nobody likes unicorns.

Or alligators.

But I know some of them DO like gators. OH DEAR!

Ok, this one may top them all - there's one pair with a MOOSE on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

There's some that look like a bucket of popcorn. And forget what I said about moose socks topping them all; there are some with GNOMES ON THEM!!!!!!!!!!! HELP ME! Stacy and Clinton (from What Not to Wear) would not approve! What were they saying about novelty socks the other day??!! Ok, I admit. I wear patterned socks INSIDE my shoes. They do not show. But do polk-a-dotted socks count as novelty socks? Do they? Great, they don't. I'm so glad you agree with me on this.

AHH, HELP, THERE ARE SOME WITH BIG FOOT ON THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

XOXO,
        Boring sock lover

He who has white whiskers and a pink nose

He has white whiskers and a little pink nose.

He's furry and fluffy and adorable.

He has big blue eyes.

And his name is Toby.

I love my little creature, even if he screams when I cuddle with him. Even if he hates getting his picture taken. Even if he pretty much ignores me. Even so, he's the cutest.

And he happened to be in exactly the right spot at exactly the right time the other night. My camera was there and the lighting was WONDERFUL.

Oh yes. I love this kitty.

Don't forget to send in some questions for the FAQ page! Send them ASAP, please! =)

FAQ Page

I would like to do a FAQ page...but obviously, I need a few questions. =)

I think I would like at least five to do the page, so if you have any questions, SEND THEM TO ME! I would prefer an email, but comments are AMAZING, too! Just do whatever is convenient. Ask me anything; no question is dumb.

My email is...

elwshootingstar[at]gmail[dot]com

Thanks, all you awesome people!

1 Peter 3:3-4

We all need to remember this. It's too easy to obsess on what we look like on the outside, and what we really need to focus on is living our lives for Jesus. It's more important to be pretty on the inside than it is to be gorgeous on the outside. And that can be really hard to remember.

And I know this is a short post...sorry about that! =)

Twaddle

Twaddle means nonsense (says Microsoft Word). Wasn't sure if you knew that. And that is a hairy plant.

And by the way...in case you didn't notice...I am seriously too random.

Like you didn't know.

AND ON TO THE REAL POST.....

I'm sore. Very sore. My thighs are sore, my back is sore, my arms are sore. Just about all of me hurts. But it's a good pain. Being sore means I've worked some muscles I don't usually use - or I at least don't use a TON. In swimming we would work out SO HARD but I was rarely sore. Then in volleyball, we work out obviously, but not like swimming, and I get SUPER sore.

But I still love volleyball. Swimming stunk. Volleyball is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. I love my coach and assistant coach.

And for a little (more =) randomness....because it wouldn't be my blog without all this randomness (and I need to come up with synonyms for random). And it wouldn't be my blog without all the parenthesis. And it wouldn't be my blog without the word and all over the page. And it wouldn't be my blog without all the blabbing. I'll be quiet for a minute. Not. =) I'm quiet in person...if you can believe it. Anyway.....

~ My knees buckle when I walk because I'm sore (weird but true - ok, they only buckle when I'm not really attempting to walk - I'm basically just falling about, if that makes any sense =) ~

~ What Not to Wear is on tonight (yay!) ~

~ I've had my hair in a ponytail TWO DAYS IN A ROW (big deal, I know. like I haven't done that before and like it REALLY matters.)!!!! ~

~ I only recently figured out that I can wiggle my ears ~

~ I am sick of watching beach volleyball. It's all that's every on at night! ;-) ~

~ Ecclesiastes 3:11 - He has made everything beautiful in its time...Lovely verse ~

~ I'm probably the only person that looks up synonyms for the word synonym

~ I thought it was cool that I knew that the capitol of Mongolia is Ulan Bator (not sure if that's spelled right - the iPod and the map on the wall aren't spelling it the same...) and so I had a clock on my iPod that told me what time it is there. I can't really explain the reason I thought it was cool. And I don't know why I had a clock for it on my iPod. Ok, yes, I do. I didn't know what else to put on there. I also had Cairo and Honolulu. I removed them all last night. And how was that for random?! ~

~ Now my only clock in "World Clocks" is London ~

Like you wanted to know all that.

XOXO,

Emily <3

ps: While we're on the subject of synonyms, I looked up synonyms for random. None are quite as good as random. So be prepared to get sick of that word.

Like you can get sick of a word. The one word (which isn't really a word) I've gotten sick of was IDK (stands for I Don't Know). Which really explains why I started using it - and not just while texting. Hmm.....

Ok, I REALLY use the words and, random, and like WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too often.

I congratulate you if you made it to the end of this jumble of words. You're brave.

A Bunch of Gerbils

We went to the pet store today. Here is the evidence.

Aren't these gerbils cute!? My parents say they look like they're praying before they eat.  =)

I used to have a gerbil.

His name was Henry. He was the fattest gerbil I have seen in all my days.

Not that I've seen many gerbils really up close...

XOXO,

Emily

ps: Sorry for the lack of posts (again). Swimming just ended and now volleyball is starting. And by the way, it's A ZILLION TRILLION BILLION GAZILLION (ok, I think you get it) times better than swim team!

Goodnight.

That was easy!

Yesterday was the easiest swim practice known to man kind. It was just me and a girl named Kristen, and we had yet another coach today. Her name's Chloe; she's pretty nice. (Our other coach Dylan was there, but with the younger kids.)

We had to do a 1000 (yes, that does say one THOUSAND) yard IM...but it really didn't seem like we did that much! Probably because I didn't do butterfly because my back still hurts - instead I did a mix of breaststroke and freestyle while poor Kristen suffered through "the fly".

After that we didn't do a whole lot; we basically got to do whatever, which was super fun! We were getting ready to go off the diving boards when the rest of swimming got canceled because of thunder.

Thursday is supposed to be fun...can't wait! Hopefully Kryn can come!
