HELLO.

Hello. What's up?

I started guitar. I sorta know some of the notes, so I've been trying to figure out how to play some songs. Yesterday I played some of Tenth Avenue North's "You Are More" and today I played Chris Rice's "Untitled Hymn (Come to Jesus)"...not very well, of course, but I figured out most of the notes. (And - this is random - I don't really get the name of that song, but whatever.)  It wasn't that hard, but the strings hurt your fingers. =)

Tonight I have volleyball camp.

And I'm sure you all want to hear some great songs, RIGHT!?????? Yes, you totally do.

By the way, if the last song doesn't work, sorry. For some reason it only works sometimes. =)

I was going to post!

I was going to post. I was going to post of the roach that crawled on me in a dark car, about finishing my books, about all different things that I totally cannot remember at the moment. But I didn't. And I'm sorry.

Happy Valentines Day! Hopefully I'll be posting more often! Hopefully....

goodnight.

random/orthodontist stuff

hey people. i'm actually getting around to posting!

so today i went to the orthodontist. i had to get impressions, which wasn't that bad. i did get a mirror jammed up into the roof of my mouth so the lady could take pictures, though, which was a little painful. then i got the impression stuff on my cheeks (kinda weird and random!). they have a counter in the hallway with two sinks and so i went out there so spit out all the extra pink goo (this is so lovely, right?!). there was a kid standing there brushing his teeth (looking normal, unlike me), and we stared at each other awkwardly and he watched my look like an idiot. great stuff, right? i would have preferred nobody seeing me, but whatever. and then i came home and did school. and i have not read my wonderful books yet today! oh my, something is wrong! i'm almost finished with the first series, which is pretty terrible. there are two other series, though, so all the awesomeness isn't over yet! =)

what not to wear is on tonight. (you needed to hear that - along with all the other pointless nonsense in this post.)

i decided to post some songs i like. hope ya enjoy.

painting takes you places you never expected it would

Hey. Right now I'm drinking a strange, fizzy pink drink I made that was supposed to be a strawberry lemonade slushy (Pinterest is responsible for this =). I'm waiting for part of a painting to dry so that I can finish it without the paint mixing. I ended up in the bathroom with the painting, dripping blue watercolor into the bathtub. Funny where art leads you, huh? =) If you ever decide to dump a lot of water on a painting - and then add more paint - I suggest doing it near a sink or bathtub. Just my personal preference. Totally random, but I was doing a painting for my mom for Christmas and ended up dumping a container of water (with black paint in it) all over my carpet. Thankfully it came up REALLY easily, but I was a little scared for a minute. Oh, and last night, I found a song I listened to when I was five and started freaking out (it used to be my favorite song - and probably is now, too). I should probably go finish my painting and read my amazing books that I could go on and on and on about (and I would, too, if you were interested =). You can tell I get a little - ok a lot - excited about them.

what i've been doing

Painting pretty skies and silhouettes

Making squealing noises when you're trying to cheer for you

Having cocoa with breakfast (I'm excited easily I guess).

Talking to an Apple support person and not being able to understand ANYTHING she said. (And she was even American!)

Going crazy with the cooking spray. (My mind has gone blank and I can't remember if that's what I usually call it - sounds odd. Never mind.)

Listening to music. (WHAT A SURPRISE!!)

Practicing my flute. (Yes, it's a miracle!)

Being asked strange questions by my piano teacher's neighbor.

Watching What Not To Wear (new season's coming out soon! Inserts screams here).

Baking.

Dumping water (on purpose) all over my painting. And yes, there was reason for that.

Jumping on my bed and creating a dent in my mattress. (WOW. Can you say stupid move?)

Weekend Notes

Notes from the weekend:

Havarti cheese, you are my friend.
Sore Eyes by Brandon Heath made me laugh.
Sand in my hair was annoying.
Big waves at the beach.
Tanked is a boring show. But you probably knew that.
Giggling at National Treasure - after watching only about ten seconds.
Science homework (insert sad face here, haha).

Wasting Time

Prepare yourself for a goofy post. A random post. A long post.

I've been lazy. Ok, more like I had nothing to post. I mean, life has basically been filled with volleyball (TONS of it), tiredness, Wednesday classes, bruising my knees in volleyball, neon, being completely confused in band, the bestest (yes, I know that's not a word) books ever, and neon. Oh, and also dread for tonight's game and next week's practice. Sorry for all of the excuses, but I can't help being busy, right?

So now it's time to waste some time on this silly little blog of mine.

I found some story I had to write for school once. I wrote it when I was eleven. It's ridiculous and I believe I hated having to write it. Here's a little from it. It was supposed to be something about a kitten living with a family of ducks.

One day the ducks found a pile of corn. They all started eating it – all except for the kitten. “Why do you eat that stuff?” he said to one of the ducklings. “It’s good,” she replied. “Try it.” “No thanks,” the kitten said, sitting down and watching ants running in and out of their home. “That just looks disgusting,” he said to himself.

The next day, while they were all in the barnyard, the kitten spotted a mouse. He crouched down and crawled toward it. “What are you doing?” one of the ducklings said behind him. “Shh,” the kitten whispered. “Be very, very quiet. I’m hunting mice.” “What?” the duckling looked confused. “Don’t be silly,” the kitten said. “Mice are just about the best thing to eat – well, other than fish.” “That’s…uh…interesting,” the duckling said, waddling away.

Oh my. That was silly. Oh my. I did not claim to be a fabulous writer, did I?

Well, I just found a story I wrote a long time ago. Oh my goodness, this may top them all. It's extremely silly (as you can imagine). Like the part where a seven-year-old wants to be called "Bob" instead of "Bobby". Wow, I probably that that was funny. What was I thinking? Nothing, apparently.

And let me just say: I love the Dragons in Our Midst books! I know, I've said it before, but seriously. I'm barely into the first one, but they are really good. The first day I started reading one, I was just like, "That's so cool!" - Which I don't really remember ever saying about a book. I typically just squeal or say, "That's sooooo adorable!" (I'm kind of cheezy like that.) I don't really know why I said the books were "cool"....ok, because they are.

Tonight is our first home volleyball game. Yikes.

Like a pig

Today I sweated like a pig.  And I know you REALLY wanted to know that!

I had volleyball practice today, and for whatever reason, I was really tired afterward. We only did a few (horrible) suicides, and I didn't even get to play in the game (well, not a REAL game - it's too hard to explain) much at all. I was about to fall asleep in band...well, not quite, but I was really tired. Plus I was kinda bored because the stuff we were learning was really easy.....

Tonight my dad and I went out and practiced some. This basically involved me flopping and falling and hitting the volleyball onto our neighbor's roof. Good times. My feet have not been this dirty in awhile. Neither have my legs. Even with all the dirt, it was fun. I went for the vb a lot more because we played in the grass (obviously), not on a court, so it was much....softer. Duh. You knew that.

Right now I'm listening to tobyMac's new album....on YouTube. =) Not sure whether or not I will buy it.
The other day I was buying a song on iTunes, and I bought the wrong one and started screaming. I'm sorta weird. I kept saying (and am still saying), "I can't believe I just wasted ONE DOLLAR AND TWENTY-NINE CENTS on a song I don't like!" Yeah...I'm freaking out about a dollar and twenty-nine cents. (I say that the songs that cost more than ninety-nine cents are expensive....yeah, I know. Very weird.) Hey, I could have bought a different song with that money, ok? I could have bought one of the new tobyMac songs! Every penny counts, right? Right. Considering that there are about a gazillion songs that I want (ok, not nearly that much =), that was like pouring money down the drain. Except it's maybe more like dumping money into cyberspace.....just never mind.

Goodnight. I better go to bed (OR NOT!) before I start making even less sense. Is that possible?! DO NOT ANSWER THAT.

I Feel Honored

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to say that yesterday I certainly felt honored - I received a blogging award AND an email from a sweet girl named Alyssa.

First, the blogging award. Emma-lee from In Real Life awarded me the Liebster Award...according to Autumn, that is a German word that basically means "sweetheart". Thanks so much, Emma-lee!

I have to write 11 Things about me....

I listen to music a lot - and usually only on shuffle.
I like rain.
I squeal and talk to myself when reading books that have romantic things in them.
I could have cried in UP and really hate that movie. Sorry.
I am impatient.
I used to think that I could fly - when I was like five.
I get sunburned easily.
I love getting emails from followers (ok, who doesn't?!)
Would you laugh if you said I want to learn guitar?
I am a perfectionist.
I haven't practiced piano today...or flute....oops. (update: i practiced piano!)

I have to answer some questions...here they are!

1. // What's your favourite colour? Purple!
2. // If you could go anywhere right now, where would it be? Hmm....I have no idea!
3. // What time is it right now? 8:05 pm
4. // How tall are you? Not sure exactly.
5. // Do you prefer a thrift store or a retail store? Retail store (usually).
6. // What is your favourite movie? National Treasure, Star Wars, Soul Surfer...I can't pick one. =)
7. // Board games or card games? Like, neither?! I don't know; I like spoons, I guess (I've only played it once, though).
8. // What's your favourite scripture verse? Well, I have lots of favorites. Um....here are a few: Matthew 25:21, John 16:33, Ecclesiastes 3:11, Psalm 138:8....I can't pick.
9. // Who is your favourite artist/band? I LOVE Britt Nicole, and really like Jonny Diaz, Matthew West, and Tobymac.
10. // Coffee or tea? Coffee probably - unless it's iced tea.
11. // How old were you when you went on your first roller coaster ride? I was nine. I acted like I was going to die on it - and it was only Thunder Mountain at Disney. Last time I rode a roller coaster (years later) was back in February at Legoland...those were funny. We rode them so many times we basically got bored of them.

Here's some people I tagged:
(I would tag Emma-lee, but she said no tag-backs)

Kryn
Alyssa
Brooke
Cindi

Ok, I think I'm supposed to make up 11 questions for ya'll to answer.

1. Do you play an instrument?
2. Do you play a sport?
3. Have you ever been ice skating?
4. Can you blow bubbles with bubble gum?
5. What's your favorite Bible verse?
6. Do you sing?
7. Hot ice cream or cold apple pie?
8. Dogs or cats?
9. Converse or flip flops?
10. Dresses or skirts?
11. Computer or cell phone?

Now on to the email. Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much, Alyssa, for that wondeful, sweet email! It means so much to me. (And thanks for the blog button help). I love hearing from my followers. Thanks again.

Gotta go!

XOXOXOXOXO,
 ~emily~

Our Camping Trip

Hello, lovely blog readers!

I had a good camping trip. The first night I thought I broke my toe, but thankfully, I hadn't. I had dropped a table on it and it hurt A LOT. It was my big toe, though, We went to an aquarium. I attempted to take pictures, and most of them did not turn out. I am saving for a DSLR camera. I was practically drooling over some of the cameras I saw at the aquarium. We saw (little) sharks in the bay behind our campsite. One swam right beside my boat. It was a bonnethead shark and was probably around two feet big. (Bonnetheads are sort of like hammerheads.) And surprisingly, I didn't scream. I just started gasping, "SHARK!" I saw the fin coming towards the boat ("the boat" is a blow-up raft-like boat) and thought it looked like a fish (yes, I do realize that sharks are fish). It looked redish-brown to me. Dad said to me later, "How long have you known you're colorblind?" I have no idea why I thought it looked brown. I know, I'm kinda weird. It also stormed one day (actually two days, but we were at the aquarium the day of the first storm). Water basically came into the camper all along the sides, so it was very wet inside (DUH! It was OBVIOUSLY wet! I am really stating the obvious). We played at the beach a lot; I played some volleyball with my family (and Wilson - yes, we named our volleyball) while we were there. Don't judge. =)

I still need some questions for the FAQ page! I also really want to do a vlog...like I'd ever post one! I should try doing one just to prove to myself that I am way too awkward to do one. =) So IF I posted one, what do you want it to be on? Oh, and IF means that I'm not posting one. But whatever, comment and tell me anyway. Did that make any sense? Does ANY of this make sense?! Ok, don't answer that.

EXCUSE THE DESIGN! I am in the middle of redoing it and deciding if I should rename the blog (I know, I just started it). What do you all think I should do?

LAST EPISODE OF WNTW TONIGHT!!!! BOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO! Last of the season, anyway. And tomorrow I start some classes at a homeschool group we are part of (I do volleyball with them). Last year was...ok. I will post about tomorrow, soon. (That is, if there is anything interesting to tell about tomorrow.)

XOXO

Twaddle

Twaddle means nonsense (says Microsoft Word). Wasn't sure if you knew that. And that is a hairy plant.

And by the way...in case you didn't notice...I am seriously too random.

Like you didn't know.

AND ON TO THE REAL POST.....

I'm sore. Very sore. My thighs are sore, my back is sore, my arms are sore. Just about all of me hurts. But it's a good pain. Being sore means I've worked some muscles I don't usually use - or I at least don't use a TON. In swimming we would work out SO HARD but I was rarely sore. Then in volleyball, we work out obviously, but not like swimming, and I get SUPER sore.

But I still love volleyball. Swimming stunk. Volleyball is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. I love my coach and assistant coach.

And for a little (more =) randomness....because it wouldn't be my blog without all this randomness (and I need to come up with synonyms for random). And it wouldn't be my blog without all the parenthesis. And it wouldn't be my blog without the word and all over the page. And it wouldn't be my blog without all the blabbing. I'll be quiet for a minute. Not. =) I'm quiet in person...if you can believe it. Anyway.....

~ My knees buckle when I walk because I'm sore (weird but true - ok, they only buckle when I'm not really attempting to walk - I'm basically just falling about, if that makes any sense =) ~

~ What Not to Wear is on tonight (yay!) ~

~ I've had my hair in a ponytail TWO DAYS IN A ROW (big deal, I know. like I haven't done that before and like it REALLY matters.)!!!! ~

~ I only recently figured out that I can wiggle my ears ~

~ I am sick of watching beach volleyball. It's all that's every on at night! ;-) ~

~ Ecclesiastes 3:11 - He has made everything beautiful in its time...Lovely verse ~

~ I'm probably the only person that looks up synonyms for the word synonym

~ I thought it was cool that I knew that the capitol of Mongolia is Ulan Bator (not sure if that's spelled right - the iPod and the map on the wall aren't spelling it the same...) and so I had a clock on my iPod that told me what time it is there. I can't really explain the reason I thought it was cool. And I don't know why I had a clock for it on my iPod. Ok, yes, I do. I didn't know what else to put on there. I also had Cairo and Honolulu. I removed them all last night. And how was that for random?! ~

~ Now my only clock in "World Clocks" is London ~

Like you wanted to know all that.

XOXO,

Emily <3

ps: While we're on the subject of synonyms, I looked up synonyms for random. None are quite as good as random. So be prepared to get sick of that word.

Like you can get sick of a word. The one word (which isn't really a word) I've gotten sick of was IDK (stands for I Don't Know). Which really explains why I started using it - and not just while texting. Hmm.....

Ok, I REALLY use the words and, random, and like WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too often.

I congratulate you if you made it to the end of this jumble of words. You're brave.

Randomness

Sorry for no posts. Be prepared for a post full of randomness now! =)

Today I babysat with American Heritage Girls. There was a little boy that kept running around, hugging us all. He was so funny; we asked him if he had washed his hands after using the rest room, and he goes up to Kryn and says, "Yeah, see?" then he proceeds to wipe his (wet) hands all over her arm. It was so funny!

So I thought that swim team was over (and I was rejoicing), but it's not (I'm sobbing). I was screaming when I heard this (probably literally). I hurt my back swimming (so I got to skip doing butterfly because I thought that's what caused it), but it's getting better. I think I'm going tomorrow; depends on whether or not Kryn goes.

The other day we went on YouTube and watched a ton of Tim Hawkins movies (he's a Christian comedian). In some of them he talked about mothers, and Andy and I thought he sometimes described our mom PERFECTLY.  =) Oh, and this is totally off-topic (I told ya, I'm random!), but Jonny Diaz's song Fool For Love is DA BOMB. I thought it was talking about being in love with a girl, and I didn't know if I wanted to buy it or not, but it's actually talking about how he would do anything for God, which is better. So...I bought it. It's GREAT.

Oh, I got a flute! Yesterday we went to a flute concert both of my flute teachers (from band) were in. It was pretty good; I like playing the flute, but concert-type music (like some of the songs they had there) are really my favorite thing to listen to. Even so, the flute players did well.

Hope the rest of your summer goes well! I can't believe it's almost over. Of course, here in Florida, summer isn't over until late November/December. If you live in Florida, 70 degree weather is cool to you. Seriously, a long time ago I was chatting with Kryn on Gmail, and it was somewhere around 70 degrees out - or above - and I was like, "It's cold here!"

That was a long time ago.

A few years ago, it's gotten cold (it was actually cold that time =), but last year it wasn't really cold. It was a nice temperature, though.

Be AWESOME and follow my blog. Comment, too! I am going to (try to) post more. Remember, if any of you know how to make a blog button, email me at elwshootingstar[at]gmail[dot]com

THANK YOU.

Sorry

Sorry for not posting in a LONG time. Ok, it's only been a little less than a week. I have been SUPER DUPER BUSY! I have had....

Saturday: Swim meet and babysitting

Sunday: Church - and my cousin and his wife came over

Monday-Tuesday: Lock-in with American Heritage Girls (SOOOO FUN), band, and swimming

Today: Band and 4H - plus I got to go to Kryn's house! That was fun.

I PROMISE to post soon. Band will be over TOMORROW!!!! It has been a blast. Swimming ends sometime this month. I like the sport but not my coach, so I will be happy when we are done. And then school starts...my life is busy. =)

Please comment and follow my blog! I will try to get the About Me page up soon - you know, in my (non-existent) spare time.

Guinea Pig ~Overload~

Get ready for a guinea pig (and other random things) overload. Ok, I doubt there is such a thing as a guinea pig "overload" - they are too cute to get tired of seeing. Or at least in my opinion.

I LOVE MY PIGGIES (guinea pigs - I do not own any real pigs).

Tomorrow is swimming; oh joy. And band. And piano. Oh, and remind me to never wear a dress to band again. Just in case I have to lay on the floor again.

Happy Fourth of July! Anyone doing anything special? (I think I am going to post more on this later.)

Please comment and follow my blog! =) THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

XOXO

The Caterpillar That Got in the Way

Lately the weather has been pretty bad. It's been raining for the past few days, and I kind of hoped it would rain so we wouldn't have to go to swimming. That didn't exactly happen....anyway, getting back to the topic of weather and such, it quit raining for a little while and the sun came out. It's rainy again, but while it was sunny, I went out and took some pictures. Or I was going to.

....Until this little creature got in the way.

Let me tell you: I hate worms. Like, hate worms. Hate, hate, hate worms. I didn't even like them as a little kid. I would see one and run inside (remember, this was just when I was a little kid). The only time I touched them (that I can remember) on purpose was once when I was probably five. I was wearing rain boots and I let them crawl on those. So I guess *technically* I didn't actually touch them. Although I have touched them while wearing gardening gloves. But that might have been and accident...

And yes, I do realize this isn't a worm like an earthworm. I know, it's a caterpillar. Now, I have been more brave about caterpillars - oh, and snails. But I really, really, really don't think you want to hear my snail tale (That was so creative, right? Or maybe it was just....cheesy). You probably wouldn't read this blog ever again if I told you.

So anyway, after my slight encounter with this disgusting beast (I am amazing at exaggerating, in case you hadn't noticed), I made certain that I watched where I walked. I didn't get very far before I decided to stay on the back porch and take pictures of my brother's succulents.

He has some in an awesome container from Starbucks. I don't know what it is about the container, but it's totally adorable.

I was pleased to discover the handle says STARBUCKS on it.

I love this. I don't know why. I just do.

More on swim team:

Sadly, it was not canceled. Remember last week how I was talking about how many push ups we did and such? Well, we had to do twice that amount...I think. I was completely confused by the whole thing because it seemed like we didn't do as many as we were supposed to do. It's this thing called "The Dirty Dozen". You swim one lap, you get out and do one push up, you swim two laps, you get out and do two push ups, and so on all the way up to twelve. I didn't do the right amount of push ups, but I'm pretty sure I swam the right amount.

I saw a boy from swimming at band today who asked me if I was sore. I told him I wasn't, and he said he did more than me. I told him I swam the whole thing, and he said I didn't do the push ups. I tried to tell him that the ground on one side of the pool is extremely rough and hurts your knees (yes, I usually do girl push ups - I can *sort of* do the regular ones if I HAVE to), but he thought that that was just a dumb excuse. It's true, though. One side is very rough, where on the the other side it's very smooth.

Have a sunshiny day and please follow my blog and comment lots! =)

Happy Sunday // June 24

Last night we went to a party for our 4H sewing club. We ate outside on the back porch, talking and laughing with our friends. It was a ton of fun! We swam in the pool and ate s'mores by the fire while having giant mosquitoes land on our backs.

Here are a few pictures.

My cat is hilarious. =)

Happy Sunday! <3

First *Official* Day of Summer

Hi!

Today it's officially summer. According to me, it doesn't have to officially be summer before it's summer. In other words, it seems like summer in April. And to kick of the season, it's pouring rain right now. How appropriate, right?!

Yesterday I had swim team. I have mixed feelings about swim team. Our coach enjoys torturing us with freestyle and flip turns. Oh, and let's not forget butterfly. We can't forget that. Butterfly is so amazingly hard - and that is an extreme understatement. So anyway, as I was saying, swim team was yesterday. It was not that hard (I mean, compared to the usual =). It was just me, my friend Kryn, and another girl (Alex). We talked a lot, trying to distract our coach so we wouldn't have to swim as much. We did a pretty amazing job, I have to say. He did make us do a bunch of push ups though. UGH. I think we did 21. That's 21 too many. And along with that we did more than 525 yards of freestyle (which isn't that much when you think about it). He always makes us do freestyle. If we could just do backstroke or maybe even some breaststroke, it would be better. It he would just mix it up a little...

And today I had band camp. I am learning the flute. Later today I have volleyball camp. Yes, I have a busy life. =)

Speaking of volleyball, I should probably be getting ready soon....

Here are some summery things for the first (official) day of summer.

GRR, IT CHOPPED OFF THE TOP PART OF THE PIC! Oh well.

Ok, I am really hating the font (on the photo below). =)

(I didn't take this pic; got it off of Word)

Have a great day and please follow my blog!!

New Blog

Hi, I'm Emily and this is my new blog. Obviously. So anyway, I'm a Christian teenage girl who loves God, her family and friends, fluffy animals, fashion (What Not to Wear rocks), music (I play the piano and am learning to play the flute), Vera Bradley, and a whole lot more. I enjoy swim team (well, not always =), volleyball, watching cheesy movies with my bestie, photography, reading (I <3 Bonnets and Bugles), and wasting time on the computer. I am an expert at procrastinating and being indecisive. I am totally random and I think the 1800s are really cool. I want to live a life pleasing to Jesus my Savior, who died so that I could live for eternity with Him.

I hope you enjoy my blog!
